Out-of-Office Message Generator
Choose why you are away, add your dates and a backup contact, and copy a finished out-of-office message. The text comes from written templates in three tones. Setup steps for Gmail and Outlook are included.

How this message is built
Each reason has one written template per tone. The page inserts your dates and contact into the marked gaps and changes nothing else. No AI is involved, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
How to switch it on
Gmail
- Open Settings, then "See all settings".
- On the General tab, scroll to "Vacation responder" and turn it on.
- Set the first day and, if you like, the last day.
- Add a subject, paste the message, and choose "Save changes".
Outlook
- In Outlook on the web, open Settings, then Mail, then "Automatic replies".
- Turn automatic replies on and tick the option to send only during a time period.
- Set the start and end, then paste the message.
- Save. In the desktop app the same setting is under File, then "Automatic Replies".
Menu names change between app versions. If a step does not match what you see, search your email app's help for "automatic reply".
These are written templates, not AI-generated text. Check the dates and the backup contact before you switch the auto-reply on. Everything runs in your browser, and inboxr does not store what you enter.
Common questions
What should an out-of-office message include?
When you are away, when you will be back, whether you will read email in the meantime, and who to contact for anything urgent. Keep it to a few lines.
Should I say why I am away?
Only if you want to. "I am out of the office" is enough. Avoid sharing travel details in a message that goes to anyone who emails you.
How do I turn on an auto-reply in Gmail?
Open Gmail settings, go to the General tab, scroll to Vacation responder, switch it on, set the first and last day, paste the message, and save changes.
How do I turn on an auto-reply in Outlook?
In Outlook on the web, open Settings, choose Mail, then Automatic replies. Switch them on, set the time range, paste the message, and save.
Is an auto-reply the same as an AI email agent?
No. An auto-reply sends the same fixed message to everyone. An AI email agent reads each message and drafts a specific answer, which a person can approve before it sends.
